The Lost Weekend.

Excellent movie about alcoholic starring Ray Milland and Jane Wyman.

I worked hard all weekend and barely achieved anything. I suppose cuddling my youngest grandson for nearly six hours is a pretty good way to have fun but I missed playing with my other grandson as much as usual. I ended up doing a lot of shopping on Saturday and a lot of general driving on Sunday and that can really take it out of you.

Busy, busy, busy.

The days just seem to melt away at the moment, so much work and only 37 hours a week to do it in. Then, at home, I either sleep, eat or do some more work. At least I never get bored! I have begun to drink that stuff advertised on the telly, Berrocca (Like you, but on a good day). That only works for me if my good days result in bright yellow wee.................. It's quite noticeable too.
I have come up with a theory about global warming, everyone else has so why not me?
We are constantly being told that there are more old people alive than ever before and soon we over fifties will outnumber the rest. In my experience, once I hit fifty, I have not only suffered from a lot more flatulence but I am less able to control it. Walking around I have little or no ability to close my sphincter at all. Think of all that methane, think of the ozone layer. Old people are causing global warming and we must do something about it now! By sheer coincidence, the movie Thunderpants is doing the rounds on a TV channel. I want every old person in the world to be fitted with a pair of  Thunderpants and have collection points all over the planet to feed the gas back into power stations in order to save fossil fuel and the planet.

Here we are, here we are, here we are again.

Opening line from "All good pals and jolly good company". Popular 'end of pier' song from early 20th century.

Well, it's been a long time. I have been working in a new job and it's taking all my energy at present. And it's probably not a coincidence that I am also not in the best of health either. My thyroid is playing up again and I have had my thyroxine increased to regulate it. I should be feeling a lot better soon. The job is the killer though. I am enjoying every minute of it but I am having to learn a lot of new stuff and re-learn a lot of old stuff. I am luck with my colleagues who have helped me every time I have asked and now, at long last, I am beginning to feel a little more confident about the whole thing.
The decorating went well, if slowly, and we now have a good looking house with a very nice carpet all through. We had a quiet Christmas and followed it with major colds. Hazel was due to have surgery on her knee on the 10th of January but, due to her bad chest and general poor health, it was postponed to the 25th. Then it was postponed until she gets a clean bill of health from her own GP. As she is now seriously run down due to the colds and the pain in her knee, this might take some time.
