2000 and frozen to death!

Update of an old Arthur Askey joke.

Driving in to work this morning, the windscreen was being cleared by the de-icer and wipers only to begin growing ice crystals almost immediately. It's a cold start to the day.
Later; a funny old day, close to disaster at one point but I managed to turn the tables so effectively that I'm now the greatest since.................

Q: What's 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration?

A: Marriage.

Sorry dear. Well we made it to Bristol and back safely but the two journeys were not much fun. We had rain all the way on Wednesday evening and side winds all the way back on Saturday. Whilst there, I think we all had a good time although my son is so tired he managed to sleep quite a lot. He probably needed it, the life of a kitchen porter is hard.

Some day my prints will come.

Song of the anxious photographer.

I am doing my best to keep this blog up to date but, sometimes, I suspect fate is against me. I am still very busy all the time at work and now, due to family circumstances, I am going away from my PCs for a couple of days. Life is very complicated at the moment.
I have been looking at the weather situation in Northern Queensland and, like a lot of people, my addled brain is working overtime trying to get to grips with the ever increasing problems with both weather and tectonic activity.
Is it just coincidence that we have had so many erupting volcanoes,   devastating tsunami and unprecedented storms in the past few years? I begin to think not. I am now over sixty and I can remember very few natural disasters occurring in such a short space of time until this century. Worrying isn't it?

The Lost Weekend.

Excellent movie about alcoholic starring Ray Milland and Jane Wyman.

I worked hard all weekend and barely achieved anything. I suppose cuddling my youngest grandson for nearly six hours is a pretty good way to have fun but I missed playing with my other grandson as much as usual. I ended up doing a lot of shopping on Saturday and a lot of general driving on Sunday and that can really take it out of you.

Busy, busy, busy.

The days just seem to melt away at the moment, so much work and only 37 hours a week to do it in. Then, at home, I either sleep, eat or do some more work. At least I never get bored! I have begun to drink that stuff advertised on the telly, Berrocca (Like you, but on a good day). That only works for me if my good days result in bright yellow wee.................. It's quite noticeable too.
I have come up with a theory about global warming, everyone else has so why not me?
We are constantly being told that there are more old people alive than ever before and soon we over fifties will outnumber the rest. In my experience, once I hit fifty, I have not only suffered from a lot more flatulence but I am less able to control it. Walking around I have little or no ability to close my sphincter at all. Think of all that methane, think of the ozone layer. Old people are causing global warming and we must do something about it now! By sheer coincidence, the movie Thunderpants is doing the rounds on a TV channel. I want every old person in the world to be fitted with a pair of  Thunderpants and have collection points all over the planet to feed the gas back into power stations in order to save fossil fuel and the planet.

Here we are, here we are, here we are again.

Opening line from "All good pals and jolly good company". Popular 'end of pier' song from early 20th century.

Well, it's been a long time. I have been working in a new job and it's taking all my energy at present. And it's probably not a coincidence that I am also not in the best of health either. My thyroid is playing up again and I have had my thyroxine increased to regulate it. I should be feeling a lot better soon. The job is the killer though. I am enjoying every minute of it but I am having to learn a lot of new stuff and re-learn a lot of old stuff. I am luck with my colleagues who have helped me every time I have asked and now, at long last, I am beginning to feel a little more confident about the whole thing.
The decorating went well, if slowly, and we now have a good looking house with a very nice carpet all through. We had a quiet Christmas and followed it with major colds. Hazel was due to have surgery on her knee on the 10th of January but, due to her bad chest and general poor health, it was postponed to the 25th. Then it was postponed until she gets a clean bill of health from her own GP. As she is now seriously run down due to the colds and the pain in her knee, this might take some time.

And a good time was had by all.

As advertised, we went to the wedding over the weekend and jolly good it was! The bride looked wonderful, the groom was very well behaved and the best man and father of the bride were both very succinct and very clever with their speeches. The food was excellent and the weather was good, what more did we need?
On the day after our return, Hazel went potty with paint and brush and has, all but, finished the downstairs paintwork. I shall do the final bits tonight.
Hopefully, I have stemmed the flow of spam that purported to have been sent from my oldest email account. The  address has been deep frozen until I consider it safe to use again. In the meantime, those who need to know have had another address sent to them for use. It was the first time it had happened to me and I was amazed at the speed the problem travelled at.  Within less than two days, most of my friends had been encouraged to buy Viagra on my say-so. The most outraged was my god daughter and I don't blame her.

There will now follow, a short break in transmission whilst I change jobs and feel a bit poorly for a while.
