And I think you'll say I'm right.....

It's coming.............

I have just spent about half a day correcting a mistake made by one of our lecturers on a module site. The thing that really got to me is not that she made the mistake but that the software was not protected so that she couldn't do it. When a site is created for a module site, a few very important parts of it are coded into it. These parts are not always where the new owners of the site want them but, as they don't work anywhere else, tough! Until they try to move them..................... Then the small cuddly bear hits the windmill. The parts can not only be moved, they can be cut and pasted. This makes them totally useless immediately. Well done guys, instantly useless web site. Even after we worked out how it had happened, we had to work out how to reinstate the code in such a way that it worked and didn't interfere with any of the code still in place. This took a lot of thought and clenched buttocks to test it out. Fortunately, we got it right and were able to document the whole sorry mess in case, or when, it happens again. There must be some way of stopping access to this code, surely?
